Vacation for Part-Time Associates

The following table outlines the amount of vacation for regular part-time associates scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week who have completed the indicated years of service in a given year. In the third calendar year of employment and beyond, eligibility is based upon completion of the total years of employment accomplished by June 30 of that year.

Associates who work a variable schedule from week to week accrue vacation based on their scheduled hours in Workday which should reflect the average hours the associate works in a week. When a part-time associate takes vacation, they should record the vacation based on their scheduled hours in Workday even if the week they are out of the office might have been a week when they worked a different number of hours. Managers should work with associates to ensure they receive benefit from all of the vacation hours accrued in Workday.

When vacation days are taken individually, divide the average weekly hours by the number of days you are scheduled to work each week, and use that number of hours for one day of vacation.

The maximum number of hours of credit for vacation pay will be eight hours per workday, except for flexible schedules with variable workweeks.

Vacation examples for part-time associates

When vacation days are taken individually, divide the average weekly hours by the number of days you are scheduled to work each week, and use that number of hours for one day of vacation.

Example 1

Hours worked April 1 through June 30 = 260 hours; 
260 hours worked divided by 13 weeks = 20 hours per week; 
20 hours divided by 5 days (normally scheduled for the week) = 4 hours; 
Vacation Pay = 4 hours pay per vacation day

Example 2

Hours worked April 1 through June 30 = 273 hours; 
273 hours worked divided by 13 weeks = 21 hours per week; 
21 hours divided by 3 days (normally scheduled for the week) = 7 hours; 
Vacation Pay = 7 hours pay per vacation day
