Involvement in Education and Community Service
Associates are encouraged to take an active role in their children's education. BB&T recognizes involvement in education is an important way we can:
- Have a positive influence in the lives of children
- Make our communities better places to work, live and play
BB&T provides time off with pay (8 hours per year—unless a greater provision is required by the associate's work state or district) for this purpose. This applies to the associate's dependent children.
Please schedule your volunteer work at your dependent's school with as much notice to your manager as possible to receive time off for Involvement in Education.
To encourage all regular associates to participate in helping to make their communities better, you are allowed to take 8 hours with pay, annually, to work on any community-related project of your choosing. This 8-hour allowance is distinct from any other time involved in company-sponsored activities such as the Lighthouse Project, United Way campaigns, etc.
The scheduling of the time off for community service must be approved by your manager.
