BB&T Voluntary Benefits
In addition to your Flexible Benefits, you have an opportunity to enroll in two voluntary benefits that may be of interest to you and your family: Critical Illness Coverage and Group Accident Insurance. Both of these voluntary benefits are offered through Aflac® to benefits-eligible, actively working associates. These benefits are affordable and are conveniently paid through payroll deduction, and can be a good investment in you and your family's future.
Critical Illness Coverage and Group Accident Insurance Benefits:
- Available for associates, spouses and dependents
- Any benefits received are paid directly to you
- Can be continued at the same cost regardless of future employment status
Critical Illness Coverage
Critical Illness Coverage can help protect you and your eligible family members in the event you or a family member is diagnosed with a covered critical illness. In such an event, the coverage can provide you with a lump sum payment to be used any way you choose. This payment is intended to help reduce the financial burden that often comes with the expenses and recovery associated with a critical illness.

Group Accident Insurance
Group Accident Insurance can help protect you and your eligible family members in the event you or a family member is involved in a covered accident. In such an event, the coverage pays regardless of any other insurance you may have and provides benefits for both inpatient and outpatient treatment. This coverage provides benefits to help cover the costs associated with unexpected bills from a covered accident.

Current active associates have an opportunity to enroll in Critical Illness Coverage and/or Group Accident Insurance during the same time period as Annual Benefits Enrollment in the fall of each year.
New hires are eligible to enroll in Critical Illness Coverage and/or Group Accident Insurance within 60 days of their hire date. The enrollment website can be accessed through Workday by selecting the Benefits icon and then the Critical Illness and Group Accident Coverage link. Follow the New Hire Voluntary Benefits Enrollment Workday User Guide for further enrollment instructions.
New hires have 60-days to enroll in voluntary benefits from their hire date. The following table illustrates coverage effective dates and first payroll deduction:

The effective date of coverage is two months after the enrollment period ends, with the first premium deduction in the mid-month payroll.

Current active associates who have Critical Illness Coverage and/or Group Accident Insurance and need assistance with claims, claims filing, changes of address or other specific questions should contact Aflac customer service at 800-433-3036. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 6 pm ET.
To cancel your Critical Illness Coverage and/or Group Accident Insurance, contact Aflac customer service at 800-433-3036. You will be required to complete and sign a Service Request to cancel your policy.
