Medical Program
BB&T offers medical coverage through BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina under the BlueCard program. This gives you access to one nationwide network, providing coverage no matter where you are when you need medical care. The BlueCard program also includes some physicians and facilities outside the United States. Physicians who participate in the BlueCard program are considered in-network and generally provide discounted rates. While there can be a financial advantage to seeing these physicians, you also have the flexibility to see physicians who do not participate in the BlueCard program (referred to as out-of-network providers).
The BB&T Medical Program Options
BB&T offers two medical program options:
- Select Option (with Prescription Drug Program)
- Consumer Option (with Health Savings Account)

Medical Eligibility Requirements
If you elect medical coverage, you must meet the Medical Eligibility Requirements to continue that coverage. The Medical Eligibility Requirements are as follows:
- Associate must be scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week
- Associate must be classified as a "regular" associate (not temporary or contract)

This service allows you to connect with a board-certified doctor with a smartphone or tablet through live video. Participants in the Select or Consumer Option of the BB&T Medical Program and their covered dependents are eligible to take advantage of this program through BlueCross BlueShield.
