2019 Annual Benefits Enrollment

Each year during the Annual Benefits Enrollment period, associates have the opportunity to enroll in BB&T Flexible Benefits or make changes to their current benefits. The resources below provide details regarding the BB&T Flexible Benefits Program, as well as instructions for how to enroll.

Enrollment Period

The 2019 Annual Benefits Enrollment period is November 1, 2018, through November 15, 2018, at 11:59 pm ET. We encourage you to take time to carefully consider the benefit elections you will make for 2019. You will not be able to make any changes to your benefits after November 15, 2018, unless you have a qualified Life Event Change.

Enrollment Instructions and Information

Enrolling in Workday
Follow the steps below to access the 2019 Annual Benefits Enrollment in Workday:

  1. Access Workday by clicking the Workday button on or the InSite homepage.
  2. Access your Inbox on your Workday dashboard or via the Profile icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
  3. You will see a task titled Open Enrollment Change. Click this task to begin the enrollment process.

For step-by-step instructions to guide you through the benefits enrollment process in Workday, view the 2019 Annual Benefits Enrollment Workday User Guide. This guide has detailed instructions with screenshots that you can follow as you enroll in your benefits.

Do I Need to Enroll?
As always, your benefits from the current year, with the exception of Vacation Purchase, will roll over to 2019 unless you make changes. However, we encourage all associates to view their benefits, dependents, and beneficiary information in Workday even if they do not want to make changes for 2019.

If your spouse currently has medical coverage or you plan to elect medical coverage for your spouse through the BB&T Medical Program, please ensure that their Social Security number and email address are in Workday. This will ensure they receive important communications regarding their medical coverage with BB&T.

Please Note: Annual Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) elections will also roll over from 2018 to 2019 if you do not make changes. Your per-pay-period deduction may change in 2019 if you enrolled or made changes to your FSA or HSA elections after January 1, 2018. If you were hired after January 1, 2018, or made changes to your FSA or HSA during the calendar year, please access Workday to verify your elections are correct for 2019.

Enrollment Information for New Hires and Newly Benefits-Eligible Associates
If you are enrolling for 2018 benefits, your elections will roll over to 2019. You will receive a notification once your 2018 benefit elections are loaded in Workday. At that time, you can access Workday to review or change your benefits for 2019 (paying particular attention to the note above regarding FSA and HSA elections).

Voluntary Benefits Enrollment

While you are enrolling in your 2019 Flexible Benefits, you will also have an opportunity to enroll in two voluntary benefits: Critical Illness Coverage and Group Accident Insurance. Both of these voluntary benefits are offered through Aflac® to active, benefits-eligible associates.

These plans offer coverage for serious illnesses or accident-related expenses. The benefits can be used not only for co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses, but also for the indirect expenses associated with illness or injury, such as care for dependents or loss of earning by a caregiver.
